Matthews Creek campground has 10 campsites located on the South Fork of the Salmon River. There is easy river access available and a number of nice swimming holes nearby the campground.
From Etna, CA, take State Rt. 3 south 11.5 miles to Cecilville sign. Turn right at sign, crossing a bridge, and go 37.7 miles to campground sign. Turn left at sign into campground.
My favorite place to take my family for a weekend camping trip.
Awesome swimming hole, however this year (2023) the area has been largely filled in with sand due to a landslide up river.
