New in town so we got directed here from. The local sheriff to get a sticker to use our new 4 wheeler in the dunes. The woman was wonderful with customer service.
The Star War "Return of the Jedi" was filmed here. The dune buggies everywhere and kids have fun for sliding on the dune.
Although I have driven many times to San Diego through I8 but every time it was during the night. Discovered this very late but had a great pleasure visiting.
Very beautiful area. Was able to admire them on our way into California. Worth admiring early in the morning or evening when it's not too hot outside. Would love to come back and watch the sun set over the dunes..
Nice view, it can be super hot, make sure to wear at least tenis shoes or something more protective. Avoid going between 11am to 6pm because it can be overwhelming hot except during fall-winter. Bring a sledge for sand or a plastic blanket, you will love it using it to slide down those sandy dunes.
