North Fork Campground has 62 campsites and a reservable group camp area. North Fork boasts a playground, shower facility with flush toilets, a large riparian area, abundant wildlife and a large irrigated turf area to recreate in. North Fork generally has less visitor traffic and is better suited for shore fishing and visitors who want to relax with a little more solitude.
North Fork Campground located Hwy 14 west of Cody on same highway.
We stopped here for one night on our way into Yellowstone and wished we could’ve stayed longer to spend more time in Cody and the state park. Showers were clean ($1 for 3 min) and pit toilets throughout the rest of camp. You do hear the highway noise but it didn’t bother us. We booked online and payed $38 but one employee told us they also have a first come first serve campground in the back (Stagecoach) that rarely fills up and there were also plenty of empty spots when we stayed here in mid September.
I came to use the shower facilities. If you aren't camping, you must pay the day use fee: $12 if you are from out of state or $7 for Wyoming residents. The showers are coin operated and cost $1 for 3 minutes. The water was sufficiently hot, but you may notice a dip in pressure if the other stalls are in use.
Great place to camp if you are NOT planning it as a base for Yellowstone. Way to far for that. It was quiet, peaceful, and had beautiful scenery. They have full hooks upstairs, electric only, and no hook ups sites. However they have a few waterfill and dump station on site for campers. That was awesome for us.
Nice campground, reasonable pricing. The firewood is free, just like a donation. Vault toilets. Seems pretty quite at night. Not much road noise. Sites are set up differently than we are used to. Fire pit and table at each site. Pads are soft, made staking in tents a bit difficult. Will come again
