We found a great spot right next to the lake. We went kayaking and had lunch. The water was warm enough to swim and hang out in.

Only 3 stars as I compared it to lake Tahoe, which would be a 4.5 out of 5 too. Only because it can be really cold in Early summer.

This is one of my favorite places to go and take people who have never fished before. Easy access anywhere along the lake free to enter and easy parking. The lake is stocked regularly and good size trout are caught there. You will also see a lot of fly fishermen on the river below in the outlet of the Dam and some great trophy fish along that River, it's the Truckee I believe. During the summer can be used for skiing boating and all the usual summer activities and gets a lot more busier

Great place for water sports and camping. Stopped here yesterday with my brother to kayak. Water was fairly warm, a little windy but besides that it was very accessible. Great views from the surrounding area. Not too crowded even though it's summertime. Will return here again.
