Burnt Lodge is difficult to get to; travel during unstable weather is not recommended. From Glasgow, Montana, travel south on Hwy 24 for 10 miles to Willow Creek Road. Travel 45 miles to Timber Creek Road and proceed for 4.3 miles, turn left for approximately 0.2 miles then right one mile to the stream crossing (CAUTION: The streambed may be impassible when wet). After crossing the streambed, follow the road to the right to the WSA boundary and Plum Creek Road. The road is steep and narrow so proceed with caution. A high-clearance vehicle is necessary.
Quite the place to see to young in love love birds start there journey together. Above all great to see past friend that looked great as ever.
This place was an unexpected gem on our road trip across the country. The architecture of the lodge is amazing. It’s entirely made of Douglas fir logs that had to be salvaged and used quickly after a forest fire. It’s in a beautiful setting in a valley next to a lovely creek. Immaculate, spacious rooms with very comfortable beds. Each room opens to the outside and has its own bath. The hosts, Ruth and Blick Drange are ranchers who were friendly and shared lots of information about raising cattle. It’s a 7 mile drive down gravel roads to get back to the lodge but we Easterners thought it was well worth the drive to get an authentic western experience in a gorgeous venue
This place is pretty spectacular. The trip from a paved road is a solid 30 minutes and the adventurous drive down was a little difficult to maneuver in our Ford Focus, but if you’re careful you can manage it in a lower car. Follow the directions online as Google takes you to the washed out road. The lodge itself is incredible with its vault ceilings. Rooms were spacious and clean. The views from the location were jaw-dropping and the only sounds were nature. This would be a great location for a retreat of any kind or anyone hoping to escape the chaos of noisy city life. We only stayed one night, but wished we had booked longer to enjoy this little gem a bit longer.
