Grass way over grown. Campers complaining of homeless people living there for months. . People also saying they been coming there over 30 years and the camp ground has gone down hill significantly. The price has double recently.
While only open to DOD employees this is a quiet, peaceful location with a lake view. It has a TINY beach that will fit a family of four comfortably in back of one of the rv spots. The camp stays quiet if you don't mind the loudspeaker blaring three to five times a day from the operations center. The bathrooms are clean and fully functional but there are water saver shower heads so the water pressure isn't all that great, just personal opinion. Water and electric hook ups are available, 30 and 50 amp, but no sewer connection. Blue boys are provided and a dumping station behind the bathrooms. The commissary and BX are pretty tiny and there is no gas station on base. There are plenty of sights to see, hiking areas and local color if you choose. Overall we are having a great experience here.
A gem of a spot for camping along a lake. Shower and limited laundry facilities available. The AFB only has 54 active duty. There mission is to test engines.
This is a wooded lake side camp. It is so beautiful and peaceful, so quiet. The RV suites have electric and power, but the primitive tent sites are right on the water, they all have grills, picnic tables and benches, andcamp lantern hooks. They have clean bathhouses (tough toilet paper, bring you're own) that are all nearby.
The lake is Rocky, ago the have a sand beach swimming area, the kids loved it. There are lit pavilions with larger grills and tables and lots of power outlets.
We had to escape hurricane Florence, this is our 3rd site and it is only $6 a day primitive camping, $15 for RV sites. The Air Force readily knows how to have beautiful recreation areas. There are also playgrounds.
