Quarry Cove Campground sits along the shores of Nimrod Lake and Dam, cradled between Arkansas' Ouachita and Ozark Mountains. Visitors are greeted with shaded campsites, beautiful scenery and many outdoor recreation opportunities. Nimrod Lake provides the ideal spot to get away from it all, relax and enjoy yourself.
Fishing is one of the most popular activities at the lake, with an abundance of catfish, bluegill, bass and crappie available. Boating, water skiing and tubing are also popular, with 11 boat ramps conveniently located around the lake, however, skiing and tubing are only allowed from the tip of Carden Point eastward toward the dam because areas west of there are too hazardous. Campers are likely to spot white-tailed deer, eastern wild turkey, bobwhite quail, squirrel, rabbit, fox, mink, black bear, dove and waterfowl in the area. Seasonal hunting is also permitted throughout the lake, except in or near recreation areas.
With 31 spacious and modern campsites and one large day use group picnic shelter, Quarry Cove Campground has plenty of room for the family. A swimming beach, boat ramp and playground are also provided.
Nimrod Dam was completed in 1942 as part of a comprehensive plan for flood control and development of water resources in the Fourche LaFave River. Although recreation was not part of the initial mission of the dam project, the lake and surrounding 21,000 acres of pristine land have now become a recreational oasis for outdoor enthusiasts.
Nimrod Lake is conveniently located adjacent to State Highway 7, a National Scenic Byway and other nearby points of interest like Petit Jean State Park, Mount Nebo State Park and Hot Springs National Park.
From Ola, Arkansas, take Route 7 south for 9 miles. Turn west onto US-60, and continue for .5 miles and follow signs into campground.
Great area, well taken care of. Well shaded, and bathrooms are clean and well kept. Fishing is fair to good. Catfish, bass, and crappie. The Core is strict but that's fine. Keep you pup on a leash and obey fire code.
After searching online and finding no campground map to know where our site was, we found a map at the entrance. We arrived at night and had a very difficult time finding our sight because there was no way to see sight #'s in the dark. We loved our site!! When we went to use the restroom and shower we had problems. There were lights in the bathroom but they were not on and we could not find a switch. Luckily the bathroom has plenty of skylight window so it was light enough to see. The women's side had no hand soap. I tried to use the shower but in order to use it I would need to press and hold the button constantly on the women's side. I gave up and went without a shower. On the men's side my husband had to press the button in his shower 15+ times to finish his shower. Showers need updated badly!
Very clean, nice campsites and beautiful view. Covered Picnic tables, fire ring with grill, lamp post and table come with the campsites.
It is a small clean and quiet park,
1 dumpstation with dumpsters.
Clean bathroom on a hill. Fish cleaning station. Amphitheater, group shelter and play ground on top of the hill.
Boat ramp. Park attendants are nice and helpful.
We enjoyed our short stay. Didn't get any fishing done, due to rain.
In my opinion, this park is more for small rigs. We have a 32 ft motorhome with a tow dolly for the Explorer and there were only a few spots, I would feel comfortable to back into. 5, 10, 22 & 30
We had booked a Multi family site (5), since we wanted to camp with friends. It was right across the swimming area on the hill. 2 spots site by site.
For me most of the sites are scary, right on the edge , backed up on a steep hill. While other sites are short or I tried to figure out , how I would be able to back into it.
Also important, bring a
Long water hose. Some sites
Share a water hook up in between 2 sites , way back. 50ft at least
