About Campground

The recently built Little Pines Recreation Area, east of Waldron offers a full service modern campground with electricity, water, trailer dump station, paved roads, a pavilion, hiking trails, a day use area with a swimming beach and boat docks. The recreation area is located on the banks of Lake Hinkle, a 1,000 plus-acre lake, managed by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, with bountiful fishing opportunities for bass, crappie, bream, sunfish, and catfish. Also within the facility is a boat ramp, fishing dock, toilet facilities and ample parking. While these later facilities are all free, there is a nominal fee for the day use area and modest fee for overnight camping. Also, in the planning stage is a lengthy fishing pier to be constructed by the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission for public use.

Directions

In Waldron, AR, at the intersection of State Rt. 80 and U.S. Rt. 71, take Rt. 71 south 0.5 miles to Lake Hinkle sign. Turn right after sign onto State Rt. 248 west for 11.1 miles to campground sign. Drove an hour yesterday to visit this place with my young boys. Mainly bc I found a website saying they also had a splash pad, & the pictures made it look so nice and clean... Well there was not a splash pad and it is not clean at all! Goose poop everywhere! Even floating in the water. We left and found somewhere cleaner to swim. We won't be back. I was not at all impressed. I think I should get my $3 back! They couldn't PAY ME to swim in that ecoli whole!

It's camping. I mean come on. Ya gotta love fishing, pice and quiet, and best of all. All the park and game warden's are more concerned with your kids having life vest then if you got your fishing license. Don't get me wrong they check them if ya ant got your license then don't go here you will be busted!!
