Trees across roads in a few places in the campground. No way to drive through to camps. Bathrooms are nasty. The honor boxes is broken.
I’ve been to this camp site tons of times and it’s always been a nice peaceful place to camp… until this time… whoever the camp host are… we’ll let me tell you… they shouldn’t be here being a camp host… they have been screaming, swearing, and arguing all morning since 645am… in my opinion they should be removed.. hopefully if I come back again they will be gone… very disturbing
I've always loved going to the Apple River Park, you have the pavilion with the playground and camping to the top. (Also the bathrooms) Then you have the lower section with a wide open area right off the river with trails to walk in to the woods. Very beautiful.
Beautiful, clean little park. Definitely off the beaten path, which I like. I wish we'd had more time to spend there.
Absolutely stunning getaway in the apple river ❤️, in a 100 yard section there are so many variations in the depth and speed, as well as types of fish to catch or observe. You can float on a tube, try to catch the enormous bullfrogs or land that sweet small mouth in the deeper eddies, the rock bass in the faster ones and of course the sunfish are everywhere 😎 try not to get pinched by the crawfish you almost trip over with every other step you take. Crystal clear, cold water that isn't stinky. And please if you do come to check it out, please don't leave your trash everywhere...it ruins it for everyone else and it probably wasn't there before you left it that way 🧐 there's even a trash can so you don't have to litter...
And that's just the lower section by the river. In the upper parking lot you can rent camping sites there are grills to use, and even and hand pump well that kids love to play with, sitting right next a charming little playground and a men and womens bathroom.
