What can you say about Alger island besides it being a great time. Now I get to bring my son here and have him enjoy the same stuff I did as a kid.

Do not follow the google maps or GPS directions, they will lead you the wrong way (onto private property). Access Alger Island campground via Petrie Road. There are signs for the campground on South Shore Road, follow them carefully. This camp site is water access only, there are many boat rentals in the area, but I do not believe the campground itself rents boats. Had a great time! brought our own canoe, no potable water on the island itself.

If you enjoy sleep deprived nights, hikers strolling onto your campsite because the trail runs through it and bleeding eardrums from loud powerboats then this is the place to camp. Daiker's across the water has live entertainment on the weekends until 2 am, whether you like it or not. The bar is only 300 yards away but my god, does the sound carry. I could actually hear a drunk guy hitting on a girl and getting shut down from our campsite at 1:30 AM. The island itself really isn't bad aside from the trail layout. It does have clean amenities and nice lean twos. If you like a peaceful camping experience, find another spot.

Very crowded lake, campsites are nice, but the trail around the island walks through them, expect visitors. If you’re on the restaurant side, bring ear plugs and expect to hear screaming until 2:30am.
