Lake Colden and the surrounding trails and campgrounds of the Adirondack Mountains are absolutely beautiful year-round, with a different feel depending on the season. Be sure to pack appropriately for more difficult trails. The area has ample sites to camp, and access to several of the Adirondack's best High Peaks. The downside of this area is it is highly visited by novice campers during warmer months, many of whom have not taken the time to read up on proper food storage, which results in high and aggressive bear activity. Please: before you camp, do your research and make sure you're storing food in the appropriate bear canister. Your actions affect more than just you.
