Stay away. No good campsites, poorly run, poorly maintained. The small sites in the forest are next to a stagnate swamp and have roots everywhere. Your next best option is an open field by the road. There may have been two good sites that appeared to be taken up by "permanent residents". The management does not enforce the "after hours quite time". Plan on being next to loud campers who bang on the tables and talk about moonshine and what not until 3am. The communal bath house was infested. The beach has better showers. A local park had better picnic tables/grills/playground. Save your money and sleep in your car (if you read this post and STILL decide to go here, I guarantee at 2am you are going to be thinking about this post as you lie in your tent awake and annoyed). The people who work there are nice.

They have hostel rooms available. My boyfriend and I stayed here as a cheap weekend trip. AMAZING DECISION. You have to share a bathroom and kitchen, but who goes on vacation and sits in their hotel room? Exactly. The rooms had two sets of bunk beds. One bunk had a larger bed on bottom. Everything was very clean (I am so picky) with definite signs of wear. If you are looking for a great way to save some money in the outter banks this is the way to go. Also the hosts were soooo nice. I asked so many questions, and they were always very helpful. The bathroom was nice with a new clean shower. The entire room had no TV. Just so you are aware. :) Hope you enjoy your stay!

The staff are very friendly, and the grounds are open, allowing you to pitch a tent anywhere. The campground is only a few minutes from the beach, which is nice. My biggest complaint, and the reason I rated this only three stars, is the bath house. The bath house is absolutely disgusting and appears as if it hasn't been cleaned in months. The floors are nasty and a really bad smell pervades the area. If they cleaned the bathrooms regularly then this would be a five star campground.

Wonderful, cozy campground with a family feel to it.

Last weekend my wife, daughter, and I camped out here, we had a blast. For one the location is quiet, with nice flat ground and plenty of shady areas. The bath house and outdoor showers were clean and more than adequate, washers and dryers are also available for one dollar a load.

The other campers were respectful and quiet. The owners/operators were very friendly and more than helpful. Needless to say, we will be returning.

Review is based on tent camping experience. (Not Hostel)

Pros: Very friendly staff. Suitable bathrooms. Hot showers. Moderately priced. Plenty of picnic tables and grills.

Cons: Very small grounds. Extremely close to other tents and campers, even if the area is not filled up all the way. Other campers can be heard throughout the night, even talking at a normal level. Located near a neighborhood with lots of industrial trucks nearby on the road. A neighbor's driveway splits the camp site. No privacy. You are better off to camp in your backyard.
