Campsite: Pueblo Park

Free camping, 14 day stay limit! Vault toilets, but no water. From 180 we drove 6 miles down 232/Pueblo Park road, a winding one-lane dirt road which is perfectly fine for cars or trucks but a little sketchy for longer vehicles or those towing a trailer (not impossible, but not many places to turn around either). As of last week the creek was dry. Visited on a Monday and even with the long drive out, it was busier than we expected. Found one quieter area but there was a dog(?) carcass there so we decided to move on. It was a cool drive & apparently there are some awesome hikes nearby, but we decided to go to Head of the Ditch Campground instead for peace & quiet.

Campsite: San Pedro Campground — Amistad National Recreation Area

Smooth gravel road in. Loop road, good for any size rig. $6/night, $3 with senior/access pass. Self check-in station with info on the area. Only a handful of other campers here currently. Tent and RV camping are separated but plenty of spots for both. Beautiful desert plants and neat walking paths to explore. Sign says bear, mountain lion, javalina, etc. So be aware. Fairly quiet here with some light highway noise/oil drilling. There are a few small (& clean) bathrooms with pit toilets. No hookups, no water. Cool planes flying nearby & camp has a memorial area for a plane crash. Walked a long way down to the water, what a hike! Also checked out the boat ramp (pic included)

Campsite: Falcon County Park

Free desert camping with water hookups, hot showers, dump, and plenty of space for any rig. Great community feel without being crowded. Even has a pavilion area with microwave & power if needed! Off leash area with plenty of space for dogs to run too. Watch for coyotes & javelinas
