Campsite: Delaware County Fairgrounds

This is a nice place to stay for a few days. There was not anything going on so we almost had the whole place to ourselves. There are a lot of sites that are mostly grass. We were able to stay next to the grandstands where it was paved. Sites are a mix of water and water and electric and there are two dump stations for use for a small fee. It was very quiet there and the only traffic at night was the sheriff’s department periodically driving through to check things. The people there were very friendly and helpful during our stay.

Campsite: Longhorn RV Park

Longhorn RV Park is located in Alanreed Texas, population 18. This is a great place for a brief stop. Overnight or just a few days to relax. Access could not be easier. The park is less than a mile off I-40 but road noise was minimal. There are 18 full hookup pull through spots that are mostly gravel and very level. Hookups are conveniently located. We have a 40ft motorhome and were towing and had plenty of space. There is also a picnic table and grill on each space. We found it very cool that old US Route 66 runs right by the park and we were literally only 30 feet away. There was no traffic so it was quiet and it was fun to think about what this road must have been like before the interstate. There is a cute little office with a collection of items outside, each one with a story. The owner stopped by after we got settled to say high and bring us some flowers from her garden. Overall, it feels like you are just visiting friends. Did I mention the price, $25 for full hookups, you can’t beat that.

Campsite: Sand Springs Campground

This is a really nice average size campground offering a mix of RV and tent sites. The sites are all nice sized and some are huge. Sites are gravel with grass between. Each site also has a fire pit and picnic table. The roads in the campground are gravel but are in good condition. There is good tree cover throughout the campground. It was actually pretty amazing that with all the trees in the campground the grounds were kept very clean. It shows real pride of ownership. There are two showers and one small laundry room which were a bit outdated but usable. There is also a really nice pool. AT&T cell service was pretty good, Verizon was pretty bad. The staff was very helpful and friendly.
