Campsite: Indian Rocks - Dispersed Camping

free camping on BLM land. As a former state park there are actually old campsites to park. Helps keeps people organized. Beginning of road has a few potholes then the road smooths out. Please be respectful and pack it in and out. No pit toilets or water available. Minutes off the interstate, signs about rocks are interesting. Little hwyway noise, but not bad. It's free, so appreciate the price! We felt safe.

Campsite: The Vineyards of Fredericksburg RV Park

Pros first. CLOSE to Fredericksburg, less than 5 minutes to town. Long drive thrus for Class A Rigs. Clean shower rooms, though a little dark (lights). Dog Park.

CONS: First off we arrived on Sunday afternoon because we came to see the Christmas Lights. We were charged an additional $15 for a 'special event' that was a flea market on the other side of town. Not something that we were interested in or why we staying. Since it was after 1 and the market closed at 4, even if we had been interested in going, it was to late by the time we got set up. Campground was less than 25% full. We choose a spot near the front, which meant highway noise all night. We didnt expect that, it being a small town. And it was a state hwy, not an interstate. The main issue we had, was hookups were towards the front of the sites. which meant we had to pull to the front of the site and the arrangement of the sewer/water and electric was odd (see photos) All the hookups were within 3 feet of your neighbors tiny picnic table. (see photos). If the campground was full, it would be unbearable. Last, there were numerous 'long timers' with multiple cars, and equipment out side. Overall, we won't be back.

Campsite: Kickapoo Cavern State Park

Great park facility and staff. Excellent hiking.

Return visit. Variety of trails, tons of birds. Weather was in the 40s at night and unheated shower house was kinda chilly. I did ask for the heat to be turned on, but no results.

Campsite: Lovell Camper Park

This was a great stop after driving down the Beartooth Hwy. Small, well kept and GREAT SHOWER building. We felt safe and the area was fairly quiet. We found the laundry in town and a great refurbished Movie Theatre. We drove out to the see the Wild Horses, and made several other day trips from the area. Town was friendly, we did see the local PD drive through in the evenings. We'll Be BACK!

No water. Clean, clean pit toilets. Needs mowing to keep down mosquitoes. Very, berry quiet and great base camp for exploring area.
