This place is gorgeous! We planned to stay at another campground about 30 miles away that didn’t work out, so we made our way here and lucked out with the last spot available! The place had lush green grass and tall trees, a welcome sight after driving miles and miles in the eastern Washington desert. It was very well kept, with exceptionally clean bathrooms and even a free shower! It also had a nice swim area and beach on the river, with great views of the Columbia river and gorge. The staff were very friendly and made rounds to check on guests, they offered firewood for sale. The only reason this place didn’t get 5 stars was because of how close it is to the road and the railway. Trains drove by constantly throughout the night, and traffic on the road was consistent too. With ear plugs it wasn’t so bad, so I would recommend bringing some if you’re in a tent. The wind picked up pretty heavily throughout the afternoon and evening, which felt nice in the 90+ degree heat and probably helped with keeping bugs away. Overall, would definitely come back!
This campground was gorgeous, but very popular and busy on the weekend. The sites were pretty well spread apart though, so we didn’t hear much from our neighbors and most people were respectful of the quiet hours. We got there earlier in the week and were able to find a first come first serve site. It currently costs $22 per night here, which I felt was fair since the bathrooms were well maintained and we could walk to the lake. The only reason this place didn’t get 5 stars was because there was a drowned rat in the drain of the potable water by our site… no one noticed it and it remained there all weekend. 😱 The previous campers in our site had left trash all over as well, we picked up a ton of it but we noticed a lot of people hadn’t been picking up after themselves. Here’s your gentle reminder to leave it better than you found it when camping in our national forests! We all know they’re severely underfunded and understaffed so every bit helps! 💚
This spot was really pretty but so very crowded on the weekend! We stayed in the nearby campground so we were able to park at the boat launch for free, but if you’re not camping I believe it’s $8 per day to park there. The woman that sits at the entrance in a lawn chair and collects the day use fee was very rude to us and made our whole experience there very unpleasant. They need to put in a proper gate so that people can stop and pay their fees, rather than have this awful woman accost every vehicle that comes her way. She was obviously miserable working out in the sun all day, but that doesn’t give her a right to treat people so poorly. I would have given this place 5 stars if it wasn’t for her!
