Campsite: Lost Lake State Recreation Site

If Alaska wildland trails were rated this one is diamond. 14 or 15 miles. Starting at Primrose campground 4 or 5 miles going up through Woodlands and meadows with a view back to Kenai Lake. Puddles and mud on this part of trail. Dense mushrooms in early fall. Blueberries. An old miners cabin.

Then 4 or 5 miles of high open glacier views in the lake area, hiking on a center ridge of hardpan. Often times the breeze keeps summer bugs away. And 4 or 5 miles descending into Seward, starting with a view of resurrection bay. I think the bridge below the lake is halfway timewise.

The last miles of descent can be hard on the feets! Be sure to keep restorative and rehydrating materials in vehicle. Lawn chairs and hot soup.
