Campsite: Cedar Creek State Park

We just found this hidden treasure and can’t wait to stay here. Beautiful and remote. Everything we love about camping.

On June 13,2022 we were blessed to return to this campground and we reserved spot #61 for 3 nights and 4 days. This camp spot is the farthest end of the campground. The space was very easy to back the camper unit and it had water and electricity hookups. It has a picnic table and a fire pit. I loved that the creek was in one side and the mountain on the other. The deer wandered around and I loved watching them and taking pictures. We brought our bikes and biked 4 miles out to the park entrance. We also hiked several of the marked hiking trails. I believe my favorite was the Old Stone Trough Trail, seeing the evidence of a previous life style overwhelmed me. Their very existence depended on their ability to raise their own food and that stone trough is a memorial to them. There is no cell service at the campsite but a short hike up the hill or a bike ride to the camp store you can make calls, text or check what the outside world is doing. I personally need this time away from the world and it’s insane population. I recommend bringing a tent or camper and get back to nature where we began as a species. Everyone there is helpful and kind for this I am grateful. The food taste better cooked and eaten in the forest. Also we forgot our camp chairs so we drove out to Glenville which is approximately 12 miles where there is plenty of stores, gas stations and restaurants. We are looking forward to returning.

Campsite: Greenbrier River Trail MP 69.6

Wow. What a great trail for biking, hiking or running. The surface is flat and mostly smooth. It is well maintained and there is bathroom facilities and water pumps along the way. We bikes 20 miles our first time there. We can’t wait to return and try 49 miles. Thank you West Virginia for such a wonderful place to be outside enjoying the clean fresh air.
