Campsite: Pine Meadows Campground
Wonderful camp ground! I love the spacious spots. The lake is nice. People complaining about the rules are obviously NOT liking to follow them. There wouldn't be an issue if people could just behave themselves and not spoil the quiet for others with their loud and drunken behavior. I'm glad that isn't an issue here. Camp hosts are awesome. They do a great job making sure people are behaving themselves. If you're an adult that can't handle a few rules, that's a you problem.
Campsite: Friends Landing
We will start with the good! It was quiet and the sites were spacious. There is electricity and water at each site. We were in an RV site,but the tent sites were pretty nice as well. Some tucked into the trees. You are surrounded by 2 bodies of water and the cool breeze is nice. Lots of areas to fish and some launches for small boats and SUPs etc. It's a great base for Olympic National Park and Grey's Harbor, Aberdeen etc. We had a wonderful time exploring. The natural places are fantastic. Now let's move on to the not so great. For the price, I expected a full hookup with sewar. I was surprised when we arrived that it didn't have sewar at our site. So be prepared. It is also $10 to use their dump station. Which also took me off guard. Usually it's included in the fee. Which is $50/night plus tax. Steep for not having FHU and having to pay to dump. Their on site bathroom was clean, but showers weren't free. Again, odd for being a paying customer IMO. 50¢ gets you 3 minutes $1.00 gets you 6..and so fourth. I understand that's not that much $, but we didn't come prepared with quarters. We usually use the on site showers when available because we have very small tanks (12 gallon) and I've only been to one campground that made us pay for showers. There is no swimming allowed at either the river or the lake. Which was a little disappointing. Not sure why. There was so signage indicating why other than "NO SWIMMING". Anyways, it's not horrible. Just sort of annoying for the price you pay. It is a pretty campground, and the sunsets are gorgeous. Very nice camp hosts as well. I feel like they should include the dump for free when you're a paying customer and have free showers available, for the price being paid. That's just based off of all the places I've camped both RV and Tent. There is a rest stop outside of Elma that has free RV dump stations. FYI. Sorry it's so long. Just want people to be more prepared that I was. The person I emailed with some questions was also very kind and quick to answer. We will be back despite some of the negatives. I will just be more prepared!
