Beauty little campground nestled in behind the Absaroka's. Pretty well spaced out lots, fire rings, up to date picnic tables, no bear boxes though (unless I missed them). Couple of vault toilets and also a cabin for rent right on the creek. Open throughout the winter as well.
Nice little trail to take as well that eventually opens up to a meadow and small lake. From there you can make it what you want. Tough going in the winter normally, major snowshoe territory. Summers can be hot and definitely in bear country, so be prepared with hydration and bear spray.
Totally worth the efforts just know the drivable road dead ends at the campground even though maps look as though it continues on. Definitely an in and out trip.
Campground is nice and tucked in. Most sites have a buffer of trees, creating shade and whatnot. Not too crowded together. Standard amenities like fire rings, picnic tables, vault toilets, potable water, and bear boxes.
The real gem here is the incredible scenery. Pictures can't really tell the tale but as you can see, this valley is a thing of beauty. There are more open sites down below the campground but a lot of them look to be for outfitters as there were a lot of horse and mule guides. Truly real life cowboys a workin'! Tons of open range cattle too, so don't freak out at night when you hear them rustling around and mooing like crazy! My bro and I ended up staying in a primitive sure just up the road on the left before you get down to the campground but beware weary, it is pretty but definitely Grizzly area for sure!
