Campsite: Gambrill State Park

Parked near the High Knob Nature Center. $5 fee for out of state, however, military & veterans are free. Large parking area with nearby picnic tables all around. We took on the Green Ash Trail starting at the CCC Iron Mike statue. Posted information indicates the Green Trail is a 2 mile loop. It is definitely at least 3 miles with about 600 feet of elevation gain.

Campsite: Gravel Springs Hut — Shenandoah National Park

Stayed at this hut in April 2015 while hiking the A.T. from Waynesboro to Front Royal. We got soaked from the rains the day before and stayed here overnight to day our equipment off. The hut has a lot to offer after entire day of hiking.

Campsite: Sleepy Creek Wildlife Management Area

Beautiful lake with some primitive trails along the banks. Saw several kayaks out and fishermen at various locations around the lake. Ran into two snakes that quickly plugged into the water and swam quickly away. Both were 2-3 feet in length.
