Campsite: Chippokes State Park

Clean, not wheelchair friendly, small beach, a few small trails, one large one. Some good views, pool was closed. Needs a few updates to make it a better park. Larger beach area, area to get to beach on flat surface. More trails. Depending on where you still not worth the drive. If your local go for it. I took the ferry.

Campsite: Newport News Park

One of the best parks to come visit in the Hampton Roads area. Well kept up, Park Rangers are visible. Many trials, large playgrounds for the kids can play. Many shelter’s for family gatherings for rent. Paddle boats and John boats are available for fishing. Really enjoyed my time here at this beautiful park. Located near Fort Eustis nice park. During Christmas they offer a light show for the family one of the best around. Did not disappoint. The trials are not handicap friendly but they have more than enough paved road to move around for wheelchairs, walkers, or anyone with mobility issues. Dog friendly, many restrooms around the park.

Campsite: Sandy Bottom Nature Park

Nice little small park located in the city of Hampton, VA. If you live nearby the park you can enjoy the beauty of the park, have a place for the kids to play, go fishing, walk, ride bike, or relax. Many different wildlife. I wasn’t a fan of the park, trials not clearly marked, right off interstate you can hear and see cars depending on what trail you are walking. Has a dog park, public restrooms and a lot of parking spots.

Campsite: Machicomoco State Park

If you are looking for peace and quiet this is your place. The park is a walking loop one loop is 3.1 miles the other is about 2.4 miles. All of it is paved so if you are lord someone you know needs wheelchair assistance this park is great for that. Or if you have small children that like to ride bikes this is great. All flat, slow and peaceful. Staff of Rangers very helpful. Clean bathrooms. Check out the JR Ranger program for your kids. Not much around so very peaceful.
