Rough but beautiful in its own way. If you like remote unusual vistas this is your place. Camping here is as undeveloped as a developed campsite can get. The pit toilets are overrun by sparrows but usable. The actual campsite look like they have been neglected for years but the fire pits function. Seems like fishing would be the draw but the boat 🚤 ramp has seen better days. I came here to see where the lava meets the water. If you don’t mind a short hike you can be where fire meet water in the distant past. Come here if you want to get away from people and enjoy some really primeval landscapes.
Camping is pretty standard here. We had a few issues. We reserved our spot online and when we got there someone had parked their fifth wheel in the spot we had. We luckily found another spot but we were unable to reserve it due to some glitches with the app. Do we were stressed all night that someone else might show up to claim the one we were in. Ruined a good night of sleep 😴 the place could be fun under normal circumstances. We were just unlucky this time.
