This is an old KOA campground. There are gravel sites and concrete pads, lots of full hookups. There are just a few pull through sites, most are back in. The office is not staffed, but the communication via text and email is very good. Small playground, nice pool. Everything is very clean and well maintained. Quiet campground.
We loved this state park and will definitely come again. The sites have ample space, many are water and electric and lots of water only sites. Most sites will require some leveling. Great place to ride bikes, kayak or canoe. There are some older shower houses with restrooms as well as some newer ones. Nice hiking trails. Great park store where you can rent kayaks, and borrow fishing gear. Close to two towns with restaurants and grocery stores.
This park is about an hour and 40 minutes from Houston, so easily accessible. We didn't like our site, but otherwise enjoyed our time here. Sites are asphalt, old and crumbling, but adequate. Our site, number 10, had little shade and lots of stickers. The fire ring was oddly located. We did have an armadillo that visited us most days. The shower house nearest us was old and dirty with lots of wasp nests. Beaches are nice, but you have to avoid the stickery grass. Lots of recreational opportunities at this campground. Staff is very helpful, nice park store.
This park is full of seasonal campers, but there are a few spots for short term. Our site was gravel, level and had full hook-ups. Easy to get to and easy out. There is a pool and a bar and grill on site. We camped at Coloma Camperland Campground in a Motorhome.
