I went to Kalaloch Campground to go look at the beach, check out the tree off life and dip my toes in the water. There was plenty of parking, but does require a discovery pass to park. As you are coming down the 101 this is one of the easiest places to actually get to the beach. Getting to the beach still requires going down a staircase and the bottom stair is continually being washed away so be careful about that bottom step. The beach is more sandy than say Ruby Beach, but not quite all sand like ocean shores.
The Hoh Rainforest is absolutely stunning any time of year. The pictures I took were from February. It's hard not to feel better being in such a beautiful landscape. The air is so clear, the water in the streams in the Hoh Rainforest you could see straight through to the bottom...amazing. Almost zero light and noise pollution. There were notices for elk, dear, bears, and cougars posted. The entry fee is $30 for a 7 day pass or you can get a National parks pass for $80 that is good for a year. Hope you enjoy it...pictures cannot do this wonderful place justice.
Pillar point is a great place to stop as you drive a long to Strait of Juan de Fuca Highway (SR 112). You get a great view of Vancouver Island. During my visit there were lots of dead hermit crabs and hermit crab shells washed up on the shore. There is also a boat ramp and bathrooms.
I love Rimrock Lake! It is so beautiful, quiet and the water is wonderful to swim in. I have only found one public access park along the lake (Horseshoe Cove Boat Launch) and the rest are private access only. It is also 30-40 minutes out of town, but totally worth it.
