After reading some of the reviews about this campground, we were hesitant about staying. I am glad we gave this campground the benefit of the doubt. First, I called and spoke to the owner about space and found out they had available spaces with water and power, and without. I said we were coming to see the fall colors. About a week before we were scheduled to leave home for this trip, the campground called and told us our timing for peak colors was going to be perfect - who does that anymore? When we arrived, we were shown the grounds and told we had a choice in where we wanted to stay - dry camp or with connections. We chose to dry camp as it backed up to the river. and we had plenty of room Our spot was well maintained, had a nice fire pit, maintained grass and picnic table. Also, the lot was fairly level and it took no time to set up. During our stay, we needed to have a part sent to us and the campground was more than helpful in coordinating the delivery and accepting our package. The owner brought it to our site as soon as we arrived from a day of exploring. Overall, our experience at Drake was excellent and we received old-school, personal attention from the first phone contact, right up to the day we left. We will plan on returning next year - the campground is very nice and the owner is delightful. Highly recommended.
Waco Creekside is a relatively new park, so nearly everything is new. The laundry room, bathrooms, hookups and store are all first class and really well kept. The park is easy to find and big rig friendly - we have a 43ft coach pulling a car - however leaving the park will require some planning as the exit is tight between the gate poles. The hookups are super easy to use and include a second sewer connection spaced out for those who need two. My only complaint with the park is their water - it is terrible and tastes like some weird chemical. Even the management admits this but it's county water and not much can be done. Internet service is very good with wireless towers placed all over the park. We did not use or go inside any of the cabins, but they look super cool with most of them lifted off the ground and surrounded by trees. The staff is extremely courteous (so rare these days) and very helpful. The manager is quick to respond to texts. Downtown Waco is only 20 minutes down the road and I-35 is less than 2 miles away. There is plenty of room to take your dog for a walk around the park with a generous amount of dog stations located throughout. Lastly, the sites are level and really well maintained. We highly recommend this park. Hint - if you're in a class A or C, ask for sites 1-12 as these are level and look right at their pond in the middle of the park.
This campground was recommended by a YouTube channel we watch and it seemed like a great location. We arrived early in the day, and saw our name on the welcome board, showing our site. It was literally next to the welcome board. Therefore, over the next 6 days, we answered camp host questions, as everyone assumed we were the host, located immediately next to the board. Water pressure was adequate, electric (50 amp) was spot on and consistent, sewer was close, and the site was level. There are no trees - anywhere as this is the desert - so our Starlink had no problem finding its way. The campground is well-kept and dog friendly. This is one of the few campgrounds we found where guests were very respectful cleaning up after their dogs. It is easy to access and move around the campground. Our site was very short even though we stated we were 43 ft long, so our towed vehicle parked in an odd area. The site was only long enough for our coach and nothing more. Since this is the desert, keeping your windows open on a nice day will only invite dust. The owners are very nice and accommodative, and offered to comp us on our next visit due to the host duties we performed, as well as the short site. Over all, this campground is recommended. NOTE - there are no showers or bathrooms - you must be self contained.
