Campsite: Fort Tuthill Luke AFB Recreation Area

A very nice military recreational facility just south of flagstaff. You must be DOD card holder to use this facility. It is quiet and peaceful. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The entire site is clean. We used an a frame cabin and an rv site. There is a total burn ban in effect down to and including propane bbq's and propane fire pits. I suspect it will be this way all summer due to very very dry local conditions so plan meals accordingly. It us a well cared for military recreational area

Campsite: Sherman Overlook Campground

The labor day wind storm brought dow several trees in this beautiful area as the photos show. A nice quick 10 minute walk around the trail gives you spectacular views of these beautiful mountains. The campsites are somewhat private but probably only big enough for a max 30 foot rig. Dry canoinf only with a pit toilet

Campsite: Fort Spokane Campground — Lake Roosevelt National Recreation Area

Another one of the premier campgrounds on lake roosevelt. This one is very popular in the summer months. You always need weekend reservations. You sometimes can get lucky mid week without one. The natural pests of summer and fall are present here. Bring mosquito repellent and a few bee traps if your are staying more than a few days. The campsites are paved for your vehicle to park on. The sites are not really on top of each, so there is some privacy between sites. There is fishing from the bank but all Washington regulations for fishing must be followed. The toilets are pit style but clean.
