Didn't get to camp unfortunately but didn't need to see that this area is a true hidden gem as I drove through in late December. Stunning shots were revealed around every twist and turn, and I came out of the fog just in time for a magnificent sunrise. I didn't see a single other car pass as I climbed the pass. I will definitely be returning next winter.
The labor day wind storm brought dow several trees in this beautiful area as the photos show. A nice quick 10 minute walk around the trail gives you spectacular views of these beautiful mountains. The campsites are somewhat private but probably only big enough for a max 30 foot rig. Dry canoinf only with a pit toilet
This was a fine place to catch a night's rest, the campground is small with only 9 spaces. Facilities include a pit toilet that was clean and and a pump-style water source that the kids greatly enjoyed. The fee was only $6/night with a self-serve pay station. The road runs very close by but in the evenings and overnight traffic was very minimal. Some of the sites have spectacular views into the mountains!
Beautiful views, nice private camp sites, vault toilet, right next to busy highway, close to hiking trails, has a day use area with a short scenic trail.
