We bought into the R Ranch around 7 years ago. We wanted to give our grandchildren the freedom that we experienced growing up. The property is gated and background checks are done on all potential owners. The children tend to move in small herds. It is not uncommon to see a group of children ranging from 2-15 year olds together. Everyone knows each other and looks out for the children. We originally utilized the RV area. After a few years we decided to adopt a cabin in Chapel Hill. These are rustic cabins that are original to the ranch that are serviced by two communal bath houses. They are cute little 12x16 A frames. Because of a decline in ownership over the lean years the cabins fell into a state of disrepair. They are available to owners for “adoption”. This program allows you to pick a cabin, renovate it at your cost, and have sole use of the cabin for a period of 10+/- years. Where else can you get a second home in the north Georgia mountains with a pool and horseback riding and a wonderful sense of community for around $250 a month? R Ranch is a vacation resort. YOU CANNOT LIVE HERE. However, depending on the season you can stay for 2-3 weeks at a time and there is no limit on how many times you can visit. The Ranch had experienced some deferred maintenance in years past. We have good people in place on our board and leading our committees who are addressing improvements. We also have a strong volunteer base of owners who give of their time talent and funds to assist the staff in projects.
