Staying here was one of the best experiences we've had in Alaska. We stayed for two nights and did a fishing charter. I think it was a terrific value. The charter consisted of a 90 minute/25 mile side by side ride along a pretty well maintained road through the Alaskan back country. Then we loaded up into very safe feeling river boats and our guide brought us to our first stop, where at we caught 6 sockeye salmon in a gentle pool. The fish were jumping and rolling in front of us. Then we drifted down the river and fished for kings. Our party of 3 landed 2 and lost 2. We fished from shore from a really relaxing riverbank in an Eddy. Our guide Tyler did a great job of coaching everyone and critiquing our execution. I've done a lot of lake fishing but river fishing was new to us and the tutelage was appreciated. Then we loaded back in for a 2.5 hour river rafting ride back to the campground. Word to the wise, bring more snacks than you think you need and dress in layers. If you have waterproof pants wear them. The day is long (10 hours) and ride back can be much colder than the fishing. I found the staff to be kind, considerate, humble and welcoming. The camping sites were flat and clean. Judging by Alaska standards the campground gets a A-/B+. The only downsides are it's not like a KOA where you have a ton for the kids to do and it's not like a federal campground where you have a lot of privacy between sites; but both of those have A) noise or B) no electricity, showers, or water! The place isn't "cute". It's not glamping. But if you like to fish or want to take your teenagers on an adventure, where else do you get 10 hours of adventure for under $250/person?!?
