Lumber River State Park offers a breathtaking display of nature’s beauty. The majesty of the Cypress trees lends a unique energy to the landscape that’s hard to find elsewhere. However, a word of caution to potential visitors: timing is everything. My midday visit during Carolina’s notorious heat proved a challenge. Not only was the sun intense, but the local insect population seemed particularly keen on making a meal out of me. For those looking to truly appreciate the park’s splendor without the additional challenges, I’d recommend choosing a cooler time of day or perhaps a different season altogether.
