I camped solo at Whispering Pines for a weekend in mid-September and I will certainly be back next summer.
It's close enough to the attractions to only be a 15 minute ride to most places, including SPAC, while far enough away to feel remote.
Check in was easy, I got a great, flat site with trees all around, perfect for tarp hanging and privacy.
Bathrooms near my site were clean and had showers and a laundry facility! Water was warm.
They have a pool, which was clean, and a little basketball hoop. There's also a camp store and a little popcorn snack stand. (Popcorn snack stand wasn't open when I arrived.)
If you are camping, ignore all the 1 star reviews. Those are all from RVers.
This is a real campground, not a big flat RV park field. This isn't a luxury RV resort, it's a campground that allows both tents and RVs
I could see why folks with RVs would be frustrated at driving over the dirt roads.
If you are an avid tent camper, this place is amazing. It's clean with facilities that aren't full of bugs. Theres a pool and a place to do laundry.
Shower water is warm, and bathrooms are clean, pool is clean. Check in was easy, check out easy.
Nobody bothered me the whole time. Super duper quiet.
I suppose it depends what you want, but for me, Whispering Pines was awesome.
I will definitely stay again.
