We stopped here because of the reviews. I had to meet Mel! We barely had the truck in park and he had the welcome mat in place. To say Mel goes the extra mile, would be an understatement. Not only does he roll out the welcome mat, he helps you set up, gives you your own personal garbage can, half a dozen farm fresh eggs (produced by his very own ladies), an information packet about the area, a bumper sticker, a coupon for the store in town, and a newspaper delivered to your door in the morning. Honestly, I don't know what more he could do to welcome you. We paid $30 for a one night stay. There were other campers near us who said they had been coming to this campground every year for 9 years. Everyone in town was so friendly. I've never felt so welcomed by a town or campground.
With all that said, never judge a book by its cover. The road to get to the campground is gravel. If you're too fragile for gravel roads, and require everything to be shiny and perfect this is not the place for you. However, I would challenge you to open your mind and give it a try. We all know of people and places that are perfect on the outside but later learn that they're horrible on the inside. This place is a diamond in the rough! 😃
