I consider my family to be state park aficionados. We’ve been to almost all of the state parks within 3 hours of DFW. Daingerfield is in the top 2 that we’ve visited (because I LOVED the quietness of Bonham).
If you’re camping, the sites are decent. They’re not level, but the park was basically built on the side of a hill, so it’s understandable. There are plenty of tent pads, and the tree canopy is amazing.
Bathrooms are very clean and well furnished. Showers were cold, but on a hot day, that wasn’t such a bad thing (plus it was Labor Day weekend, so lots of people).
The trails give a variety of difficulty and sightseeing opportunities. The swimming area and diving platform are very good, and the store is located in a common sense place (central to all the activities) that can supply you with anything you left at home.
This is one park we will DEFINITELY be back to see again.
