One of my bucket list dream hikes. Done 🫶 thank God he kept us safe all the way there and back. December is really probably not the best time to do the hike because you won't really get to enjoy the beach due to the big swell. But working with our schedule it just happend to work out that way for us and we did keep an eye on the weather and committed to do it if they kept the trail open and the streams were good to cross always keeping it safe. We really enjoyed the trail. The hike itself is definitely difficult. My husband and I love hiking and hike in the States. But this is the first backpacking hike we have done. This is the hardest one of all lol. You really need to have the energy cardio in you to make it all the way through. I was struggling after mile 8 and I think is 11 miles one way. The trail is a lot of up and down and it really takes the energy out of you. Especially if is hot sunny. There is some shade along the mountain and under the trees in some part of the trail. But you really need to hydrate a lot and take brakes so you don't overheat lol at least that's what worked for me. There is a lot more info that you can get about this hike on Facebook the group is Kalalau trail and the people will help with good feedback and advice about it. Is one for the books for sure. Be safe and enjoy it. We sure did 🫶
