Qualify anything I say as coming from an occasional hiker coming from the RV campground, not a serious hiker.
I like the trail, but I prefer the trails in state park. The state park trails have more traffic and so they are easier to follow, plus they are marked better in my opinion. The national park trails are not as readily marked and sometimes you come to side trails that are not on the map, but are clearly well traveled. I might enjoy the side trail, but I don’t know where it goes.
There is an intersection at the Blue Mountain shelter. A trail leads off from that intersection that is not marked that we followed over into Cheaha State Park trail system. It was a nice loop from the boardwalk that should be shown on maps to encourage use.
