I'm not even sure where to start. Five stars for location. They are located right on the Sparta Elroy Trail. We have stayed at this campground before without issue. My first thought, and the thought of those who were also staying in our group, is that the owners are burned out. The daughters were very friendly and helpful. The person I assume was the mom, was not. She gave one or two word snippy responses and was less than helpful. There was a wasp nest in the kids playground. My grandson got stung. When my daughter went up to the office to let them know there was a bees nest in the play area, the mom said, "It's a wasps nest." My daughter came back and said she was very rude about it and if she knew it was there why didn't they get rid of it. One of the daughters came over and got rid of it. She was very friendly. The fire pit was completely full. We went to make dinner and couldn't start a fire because there was so much ash in the pit. My son in law went up to ask if they could clean it out. One of the daughters came down and cleaned it out. We were told that the pool was 85 degrees, however, it felt like the ice had just come off the lakes and we got to swim in it. The bathrooms.... omg... this was the kicker. They were absolutely gross. Dirty. We were there for 4 days and they did not get cleaned once. The walls in the showers are yellow and disgusting. I dropped something and was careful to pick it up without touching the walls with my bare body. I ended up throwing out the item I dropped as well. The stalls ran out of toilet paper on the morning of day 3. A couple of times there was a cart that was near the building and we thought, "Excellent! They are cleaning the bathrooms." They weren't. One of the shower curtains in the men's restroom was torn and on the ground. I get that we are camping, but when you are tent camping the one thing you do look forward to is a good shower. I remember this being a great place to camp, but we will not be back unfortunately.
