It truly was a beautiful and enchanting place, however upon arriving at the campsite we were absolutely stunned by the aggressive swarms of horseflies. These flies can really bite and when they do bite, it hurts! They would not leave my two dogs and us alone, so we took shelter in our truck. We saw other campers also struggling with the horrible pests. Campers were waving their arms in all sorts of directions trying to shoo them away. It was so bad we couldn't even get out of our truck and set up camp for the huge flies kept attacking our truck! So, we had no choice, but to leave. We were super bummed, because it really was a beautiful place and we were excited to explore hiking trails. I was also surprised that there was no mention of these vile creatures in any reviews. Perhaps, it may have been due to the warm, hot, and muggy weather that brought these awful guys out. If we had known, we would not have wasted our time coming here. I agreed with my husband when he questioned why God would even create critters like the horsefly who can ruin a vacation in seconds.
