I have never in my life been treated as poorly as I was here. I had called the resort and reserved a cabin for the weekend of September 22-24th. I was even sent a confirmation email for the cabin rental. I showed up at the resort at 5:03pm rental office closed at 5pm but I had called at approx 4:30pm and said I might be 10-15 minutes late due to traffic but I was on my way. I walked in the rental office and Beth who I had made the reservation with was about to check me and a friend in, when this woman walks in and says "I thought you rented that cabin to a married couple". I in turn said "who says we aren't married but regardless I rented this 2 bedroom cabin for 3 adults. She then got extremely rude and asked what we planned on doing there. I said relax and unwind. She then said that we can't have parties or we will be kicked out. I said I'm 52 yrs old why would I throw a party and I already said that we planned on relaxing and unwinding. She then said that she would not be renting to us. I asked why and she said she didn't need a reason. I asked for her name and she asked why and I told her that I didn't want there to be any misunderstanding when I told the owners of Sunrise Resorts who was the rudest woman I had ever met. She then told me she was the owner. I don't believe her but regardless she refused to give me her name. Now my friend was a black man. We are not married nor are we gay. But that should not matter either way. I'm not sure what her issue was but seems to me like she didn't rent to us because my friend was black or that she thought we were a gay couple. Either way left feeling like I had just left Adolf Hitler's resort. Racism has no place in the world we live in and if people chose to be that way. They certainly should never work in a job that forces them to work with the public and especially not in the customer service industry. I personally would love to speak with the person or. People who actually do own Sunrise Resorts. I think that woman should lose her job and take her gay bashing, racist opinions and go find a dark corner of the world to live out the rest of her life away from people. I have been going to the resort at lake Sawyer for over 20 years and I have to say it's sad because of that rude and disrespectful woman. I don't know if I will ever return.
