Regrettably, my recent experience at Rockport RV resort by R-Journey in South Texas was far from satisfactory, marked by a multitude of issues that significantly overshadowed any potential positives and there are some positives despite the criticism that follows.

The entry and parking lot, plagued by deep potholes that transform into a muddy mess during rain and a dusty expanse when it's dry, created a constant challenge. The resulting mud-covered vehicles, caused by the poor conditions, made for a disheartening and inconvenient aspect of daily life. Primarily housing full-time working families, the park's atmosphere was dominated by the early-morning roar of diesel trucks rumbling down the narrow roads to work at 6 am, the return of night-shift workers at 2 am and the hearty screams of children in the evenings. This dynamic environment, while reflecting diverse lifestyles, led to disruptions that hindered the overall tranquility of the community. Large barking dogs, some left tied up outside unattended, added an element of concern for safety and the well-being of animals. The apparent lack of responsible pet ownership, as evidenced by uncollected waste, contributed to a less-than-inviting atmosphere in some areas. The Saturday breakfast, known for challenging even the strongest of digestive systems, offered limited appeal with its lack of variety and consideration for diverse dietary needs. While the option for direct package deliveries to sites was convenient, the draconian policy of returning RV guest mail to sender without notice was not only unwarranted but also contributed to an overall sense of neglect. The presence of aging, dilapidated RVs with tarps on roofs, ACs mounted in windows, and severe water damage underscored concerns about the park's maintenance standards. It painted a picture of a community where the physical infrastructure was lacking attention and care. The dismissive park manager, coupled with an office marked by high turnover and understaffing, created an environment where legitimate guest concerns were not only ignored but met with defensiveness. The evident disconnect between the corporate office and park management, particularly in billing matters, added a layer of frustration. I was incorrectly billed for electric almost every month. I was told I had not paid the previous months rent multiple times, luckily I demanded a printed receipt each month and was able to prove that I had in fact paid. Maintenance issues further compounded the problems, with maintenance staff turning off water and power without notice, leading to personal and professional inconveniences. Communication was absent, as my RV was unplugged to perform repairs to the pedestal while I was working on my computer, causing an unnecessary loss of work.  Requests for consideration were met with silence, highlighting a lack of basic respect. The lingering smell of marijuana and septic in the evenings contributed to an unpleasant ambiance, further detracting from the overall living experience.

I made efforts to politely resolve issues with billing, utilities and package delivery with park staff. The corporate office dismissed my concerns so I'm leaving this review to get their attention and give them another chance to address guest concerns in a professional way. I don't like leaving negative reviews and with a simple apology I will be happy to rewrite this one highlighting the reasons I chose this park for the last three winter seasons.
