Despite my 3/5 star rating, this is actually a nice park but it could use some improvements. It is in a great location, and the staff seem to be friendly and responsive. I visited twice, with a third trip upcoming, so obviously I like it. People complain about the long term folks, they all seemed nice to me.
So where do they go wrong? Mostly in the site maintenance and aesthetic. Apparently their water isn't potable or even drinkable, and they don't make that obvious or tell you that when you check in but it is mentioned on their website if you know where to look. Both sites I stayed at had different issues with the electric, thankfully I have adapters and surge protection. The sites themselves are in okay shape, but the areas adjoining them including the driving surfaces are in pretty bad shape with potholes, puddles, and muddy areas that could easily be corrected across the park with a couple tons of fine gravel. During my stay, they also randomly decided to turn off the water for maintenance without any warning, updates, or communication.
When you visit this fine park, just set your expectations correctly and you'll have a great time. It really is a nice place, just needs some upkeep. For Surfside in general it is pretty good. If you want a "nicer" place, you have to go all the way to Bluewater down the highway, which is 15 minutes farther from Lake Jackson and civilization in general.
