Oakwood RV resort had absolutely everything we hoped for! From the minute we arrived, we were greeted by the staff who had the resort map already to go, along with some brochures for the surrounding area, to include all the amazing wineries within a few minutes drive.
Our primary reason for coming to the area was to hike Enchanted Rock, and while this may not have been the absolute closest RV Resort/Park to Enchanted Rock, it was only a 20 min drive through some really cool scenic areas, and didn’t seem far at all.
We stayed at Premium site 39, which was an easy pull through, extremely level and well kept with some strong lighting and a fire pit that had the ability to cook from. The sites seemed spacious, and allowed for plenty of privacy, yet we were able to say hello easily to our neighbors, and my 8yo son was able to find another boy to play with as well. They enjoyed using the shuffle board court, as well as the putting green to kill time between our off site adventures. The pool was open, but since it was 50 degrees for our trip, we will have to use it next time. But it was a large pool and looked extremely well kept.
Oakwood is also extremely pet friendly, providing areas for smaller dogs, as well as larger dogs. As long as your pet is behaved, and I don’t mean perfect, I think there was ample area for them to do their business, get some exercise, and enjoy time with you.
The bathrooms were the biggest surprise! After utilizing the secure entry code, the bathrooms rivaled that of a lot of hotels. Nice modern sinks, toilets, shower stalls! All of it in great order, and made for an easy trip to the shower after a long day of exploring.
If your plans include exploring the amazing town of Fredericksburg, the drive is about 5-6 minutes from the heart of Main Street, so easily traversed by either vehicle or bicycle.
All in all, a great little RV Resort, that what plenty to do for our short trip, or if you’re staying longer, will be a quiet little area to u wind when not out and about.
