Stopped at Avinger Station to stay a night each way to and from visiting family near Dallas for Thanksgiving. My husband knew the area since he used to have family in Hughes Springs nearby. A truly beautiful setting and very well designed and maintained... all very nicely paved roads and sites with convenient hook up area that is well lit, a great space to one side with a half picnic table and a great small fire pit complete with wood ready to light! The fire pits are also all covered which is nice too since when we arrived for our second stay it had been raining pretty much all day, so the wood stayed nice and dry for us to light it in the early evening. Also very quiet and peaceful setting... there is a train track nearby so you will hear the train come through in the very early morning, but not a nuisance at all (in fact is was a nice memory of when we would visit this area more often years ago). We did not use the laundry or restroom facilities, but I would imagine they are very nice. A quick and convenient walk up to the street for dinner at the catfish restaurant was a nice treat. Wifi was great too! David greeted us when we arrived and showed us to our site, which was very easy to get to and pull through with a tow car. He also came by the next morning to check on us as well. So thankful for his time and attention to this special place, and hope to make another trip that way soon to be able to stay and enjoy it more. Would highly recommend to anyone near this area of northeast Texas. Thanks for a great stay David!
