Deep Creek Campground is located near Sand Lake at an elevation just over 10,000 feet. The summers are cool and autumn is brief. Winter comes early and stays late. Campground facilities include 12 small campsites, one pull through site, picnic tables, toilets, drinking water, fire rings. This is a pack-it-in-pack-it-out campsite. No trash service in the area. For hiking, the Rock Creek Trail and Sheep Lake Trail are nearby. Crater Lake Trail provides a short hike to a beautiful lake. Boats must be carried a short distance to reach the lake.
From Saratoga, WY, take State Rt. 130 east 20.1 miles to North Brush Creek Rd. (Forest Rt. 100). Turn left onto Rt. 100 (dirt) and go 20 miles to "Y" intersection (Forest Rt. 101). Bear right onto Rt. 101 (dirt) and go 9.8 miles to campground on the left. NOTE: Forest Rts. 100 and 101 are intermittent narrow two-lane or single-lane (with turnouts).
Amazing. Up on the mountain in the middle of nowhere. No service.. great place to disconnect and enjoy life with the loved ones
Wash board roads, unclear signage, rather confusing directions. Deep in the pine forest, the only things that make this a "campground" are aging pit toilets, half ply (not even 'one ply') toilet paper, and fire rings. Oh, and the modest fee. Mosquitos were bad last year, they were insufferable this year. Plenty of downed wood on site, if you know how to use a hatchet to cut to appropriate size. It's a guessing game to know what number your campsite is. 5 star? Heck yeah!!
Came here to camp for the 4th of July weekend..and ended up not camping due to the mosquitoes. drove around for 4hrs in this whole park trying to find a spot that didn't have a swarm of mosquitoes. HORRIBLE amounts of mosquitoes even with bug spray!! The campground was almost empty on a holiday weekend. Bummer because the area is really beautiful
A long and winding trek from Snowy Range Road on a narrow mountain road just below the top of the mountain range with sheer drop-offs for drivers not paying attention. Do not attempt this in anything but the best weather. Photos speak for themselves.
Great camp ground nice bathrooms. Must pack out all trash. Saw some moose. Far from paved roads but worth it
