From town: Go 1 mi W on Old US-18.
Nice campground considering it’s run by the county. Has boat launch, running water, and electric sites. Very small sand beach area, south of boat launch, without designated swimming zone. The water there is a little too shallow for anything other than wading.
Lake is large enough for powerboat water sports.
Lake has diverse enough bathymetry for multi-species fishing. Water is clear and clean.
Adjacent park has a nice pavilion.
Great campsite!! For only $20 a night and you get power and water. Great wooded sites, lots of space for the kids to run, and ride bike. Unfortunately, it's first come, first serve but that's also a plus because if you're able to pull out early enough, you can get a site instead of them being reserved and having to book a year in advanced. The beach is grass all the way to the water but it's nice and has a few benches and a swingset. Cute little creek that runs by the beach the kids played in. Lots of trails for the kids to explore. The water is super clean and very sandy with nice sand. The kids can go out a long ways before it gets deep. All in all, one of my favorites places to camp.
One of my very favorite places on earth! My family spends almost half the summer camping here. We love the beautiful campsites that are spacious and several are private as well. There are no showers or flushing toilets, but there are outhouses and hookups for water and electric at every site. There's also a seperate dock in the campground that can be used by campers to fish from or tie boats through during your stay ☺.
The lake is big enough to go boating, skiing, and tubing if anyone wants, and we love kayaking as well! There's also a sandbar in the middle of the lake that it is fun to boat out to and swim around ☺. It is also a good place to go fishing and has no wake hours starting at 6PM so that people fishing will have no disruptions from large speedboats going fast through the lake.
The beach area is very nice and water is nice and shallow for quite a ways out, giving a lot of room for kids to play ☺. If you forget life jackets, Florence County Parks has some on a display there that can be borrowed and returned before leaving 😁. We always try to wear water shoes in the swimming area just because there are several little rocks until you get out a little bit.
The views are beautiful here. I love seeing the sunrises and sunsets over the water! 🌅 I even recently took my son here to take pictures instead of buying expensive school photos, and they turned out beautifully!
Very nice lake and beach. Water stays shallow for quite a ways so it's great for small children. It's also one of the first lakes to warm up in the summer.
Ther is a cute little creek accessible from the beach where you can see crayfish and turtles regularly. Loads of dragonflys too!
The only negative comment I have is they recently cut down all of the trees near the beach taking away shade from the area and making the lawn less asteicly pleasing.
Nice county park. Not huge, sights are spaced out so you are not on top of each other. Pit toilets, but clean and smelled decent. Didn't stay, just checked it out. Sights are $25 a night. Most sights had electric and water. Would stay if in the area
