Loved kayaking here. I brought my own kayak but for $5 the guy brought it to the drop off site and gave me a pass to come pick it back up. Clean water. Alot of trees down though but great day trip with alot of friends
Never ever am I coming back haha but it’s just me I guess. Ticks are waiting to jump at you at every corner lol it was beautiful no doubt but I was so paranoid I couldnt relax 😄 no internet no service - total reset from outside world.
Great wooded campground by the shore. Big pool with gradual depth (babies could go in one end and 8ft on the other) the pool is also open later than most campgrounds around (8pm)- impressively spotless bathrooms- friendly staff in the office/store- $6.99 for a decent bundle of firewood. we were here on a week night in late august $60 for the tent site for 2 people and $6 per kids so it cost 72$ total for us. Volleyball court by the river and you can rent canoes-kayaks- tubes. We will be back!
If any in your family is disabled, they will possibly never experience tubing on a river in their lifetime. But we took chances, my brother had a stroke and that being said he has right sided weakness. From the very beginning, our driver Brian accommodated him in every possible way he can. From walking him to his tube and getting him out of the tube to even having the owner Paul give him a curtesy ride on his golf cart back to where we left his wheelchair. Overall, the staff at Winding River are truly very helpful. Thank you for making my brother’s tubing experience one to remember. We appreciate you all.
My family & I just stayed for a week here, I cannot recommend it enough! The campground is nicely wooded, with ample space between sites. The campground is owned by family who work and manage it themselves, and their love for it shines through! Everyone was extremely friendly and helpful, and the campground is meticulously maintained. I absolutely recommend the kayaking, the Winding River is truly unique, but also a relaxing paddle. I love that the campground maintains it in a wild and natural way. My two kids loved the playground & pool.
There is so much to see in the surrounding area - lots of hiking & biking trails, birding & wildlife! NJ is such an interesting mix of pines & oaks, with lots of sand.
Winding River Campground is honestly the first campground I can say I would like to return to!
