Loved camping in our travel trailer here. Beautiful location near Lac LaBelle, small campground, very well kept up, SUPER CLEAN and NEW bathroom facilities. The resort backs up to miles and miles of trails yesterday you can walk right out from the back of the property. Dry quiet location. Super helpful and nice check-in process with the owner’s brother. Would definitely stay here again!
We had a great stay at Wilderness. They accommodated my party with having 2 small tents and 1 car. Check in was quick and easy. The bathrooms were always clean throughout the day. They have a dish washing station that is very convenient. We felt very safe at this campground.
Cabin 1 had and probably still has mold in it which made my partner and I feel sick the whole time we stayed there.
Immediately upon walking in, we could smell the overuse of air freshener (suspicious). Once we got through the 2 doors, you could heavily feel the moisture in the air and the smell of mold in the kitchen/living room area. I inspected the air conditioner and found black mold (shown in the picture). We weren’t going to use that.. there was black mold in the shower that I regret not getting a picture of.
I notified the owner and requested to be put in a new cabin. While he seemed nice, he said there’s no mold, it’s just mildew smell coming up from the logs under the floor because moisture is getting trapped. No mold? Hmmm. Moisture thrives in a moist environment, there’s a high chance there is a massive amount of black mold under the floor. I showed him the air conditioner and he admitted there was at least mold in there and said he needed to clean it. Didn’t offer or attempt to clean anything while we were there, basically just told me to accept the state of the place. Understand the place was booked up, but didn’t offer anything. No partial refund, no offer of anything. We paid nearly $1k to stay there for the week.
We felt sick the entire time we stayed there and had respiratory problems. Some types of mold can release mycotoxins into the air, something the owner doesn’t know or seem too concerned about. This cabin should NOT be rented out whatsoever until the moisture problem under the floor gets fixed. Put a dehumidifier in there too. It’s just basic stuff.
In addition to all of that, there was a rag in the kitchen used to wash dishes and it smelled absolutely horrible, full of mildew smell. Gross that people are forced to use that to wash dishes after they stay there. The rules of staying there make you clean, and do various chores as well. You’re better off staying in a hotel that costs even less in town.
I believe the owner will respond to refute my claims, but ask yourself - is it worth $1k to stay in a mold infested cabin where they have you do your own chores and don’t offer to remediate the problems in any way?
I was just looking for a simple place to park and sleep for the night with my son, and I was pleasantly surprised. The owners were so kind and helpful. Upon check in, you will receive a password for the wireless as well as a code to get into the bathrooms and shower. We were so grateful for the quality and cleanliness of those facilities. My son is wierd about using public restrooms and the restrooms here felt almost like home. We would happily return to this campground. The only thing that surprised me a little was how close our fire pit was to the pits of two other sites, but no complaints since we got to meet our neighbors and simply share our fire pit with them since it was only 10 or 15 feet from theirs. I do believe our little area was unique in this way. We were in site 14.
We stayed here for 3 nights while we skied at Bohemia. The rates were affordable, the owners were great to chat with and genuinely cared about making us feel right at home. We had two people in our group and took Cabin A. We each had our own bedrooms and had plenty of room to spread out. We will definitely stay here again!
