Drove back to this special place with our Subaru Forester. No problem. Lots of puddles. It's the last three miles that are rough. Take your time. Clearance is what you need, traction is not a problem.
depending on time of the season you may or may not need a 4x4. yes 4wd is more fun, but i made it in a grand cherokee. without a doubt you could do it in a small suv or crossover. just get out to the shore as it is thee best camping. i went 2nd week of june and it had been raining a lot.
Great ride, lots of water holes. Was amazed at all the people camping out there, it is far from private but beautiful views and a newer bathroom and trash bins.
Stayed mid May. Beautiful spot. First night there was only one other group which made it feel very secluded. Second day a dozen groups came and went with a couple others spending the night on the point. The road in isn't bad but you'll need to take it slow.
