Love whispering pines campground. Spend several weekends each summer here with my wife and some of her large family. Always happy memories being made. Just wish they didn't do away with fall fling, and tent camping. Without tent camping it's an rv park not a campground
We have been campers for over 15 yrs and this is the first negative review I have ever written. The campground is overly crowded and the seasonal campers have WAY too many personal items around their campers, as if all of their worldly possessions are on site. They have advertised many activities but minigolf has been ripped up, shuffle board is not level ( think frostheave at one end), cornhole is locked up, and "stocked" pond is more like a large puddle...maybe a foot deep. The splash pad is amazing but my adult sons are not going to hang out there. In fairness, the cabin looked ok but the campground smelled of trash and sewage, the bathrooms were disgusting, and the office closes very early so I hope you don't need any help. The woman at the desk was super sweet and tried to be as helpful as possible. Thank you for that. We stayed for 5 hrs instead of the 2 overnights; I would not recommend this campground to anyone. Dirtiness when camping breeds illness; really the state should do more frequent random inspections. Activities need to be removed from website since they are non, or barely, functional.
Owners have not replied to any of my emails nor did they call to discuss our disappointments. Owners live in Michigan so I guess it doesn't matter to them?
We had a great campsite location, although maneuvering when we departed was very tight. The bathhouse was only steps away, but the soap dispenser was broken and not repaired until the last day. The showers were great, free, and plenty of hot water. We enjoyed the ice cream at the snack bar, but they had very limited hours (July). The pool and splash pad were well maintained, but the mini golf was unusable and not maintained for what seemed to be a long time. That being said, the entire staff was wonderful: Diane, Ginger and Sharon were fabulous. The campground was proximal to shopping, dining and the RI shore.
Campsite was poorly maintained. Got a tent site and had a giant wooden deck that was not usable. Fire pit was tape off with caution tape. I assume we couldn’t use it. Pool was dirty with debris and bathrooms were disgusting. They need to take min golf off their map because it’s falling apart and not being used. Remember it being a great place when I was younger, but has since gone downhill.
We stayed recently for the first time at Whispering Pines Campground. It was close to home, but felt like we were far away from home. The bathrooms were mostly clean, the showers were pretty gross by Saturday night though. However, I was pleased to see they had shelfs in the changing rooms to place your shampoo, razor, etc, and hooks for clothing and towels. The campsites were easy to navigate, we were able to comfortably pull through with a 28 foot rv. The staff was super friendly, the pool and splash pad were well maintained. Check-out was a bit early, noon would have been better. They had live entertainment on Saturday night, activities for the kids, the arcade was great, they had a decent pool table, air hocky, and games. I think the price of the games was too high at a dollar, $.50c would have been rational, the pool table and air hockey were fairly priced at a $1. Overall it was a great weekend. We do large family camp trips each year, we will likely be back.
