Ruffed Grouse Campground is open from May - October. Maximum stay is 14 days. Maximum length of campsites is 35 feet. Water is available.
From Winthrop, Washington travel 8 miles north on West Chewuch Road (county road 1213) to Eight Mile Road (forest service road 5130). On Eight Mile Road #5130 drive 7 miles northwest along Eightmile Creek to Ruffed Grouse Campground on the left.
Good campground for primitive camping. Next to a stream, all sites with fire ring and tables. Need to travel on partial gravel road to access. Watch out for grazing cattle that may be in the road.
Nice. Has bathrooms and firepits. Surrounded by scenic woods and a crystal clear creek with trout in the back. Great place for hiking and I was surprised to see A nice big trout in the culvert, under the road, just above the campground.
Bring some pautzkes and some dough and you'll be good to go.
